SOUTHERN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) FOLK ART PORTRAIT OF A MAN, oil on canvas, stylized three-quarter length depiction of figure seated at a table with an open book, holding possibly a red clover in his left hand, no signature located. Housed in possibly original paint-decorated pine frame. Reserve. Possibly Virginia. Circa 1840. 30 1/4" x 27 1/4" sight, 37" x 34".

Good overall visual condition, lined with possible minor inpainting, minor crease line in canvas. Frame good overall with scattered house paint splatter.
