STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN HISTORICAL TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC JUG / PITCHER, hexagonal form, featuring brown/sepia transfer "Columbian Star / Octr 28th 1840.", as printed to underside, created to commemorate the election of William Henry Harrison as the ninth president, it depicts a log cabin with a woman and child by the door and a man plowing behind a pair of horses in foreground, and geometric stars border decoration. Additional marks to underside include garter-style mark with "Jn Ridgway" below pattern name. John Ridgway, Hanley, England. 1830-1841. 7 1/8" HOA.
