STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN HISTORICAL TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF TWO, comprising one featuring the Arms of "NEW YORK", depicting a spread-wing American eagle flanked by sitting Liberty and Justice, having "EXCELSIOR" at base of shield with rising sun, and one featuring the Arms of "RHODE ISLAND", depicting a shield with an anchor resting on a rock with crashing waves below, having "HOPE" printed above, each with vine and flower border decoration. Each having printed eagle mark grasping ribbon with "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Thomas Mayer, Stoke, England. 1826-1838. 8 1/2" and 9 7/8" D.
