STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN HISTORICAL TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC WASH BASIN AND PITCHER, featuring States series patterns, basin having view of Gunnersbury House, Middlesex to interior and pitcher with Trematon Castle, Cornwall, each flanked by patriotic female figures Justice and Liberty on platforms reading "AMERICA AND / INDEPENDENCE", portrait image of George Washington beside Justice, basin border featuring 15 states enumerated in swags interspersed with stars to interior and exterior. Basin having impressed crown mark encircled by "CLEWS WARRANTED STAFFORDSHIRE" to underside. Ralph & James Clews, Cobridge, England. 1814-1834. 10 1/8" HOA, basin 12 1/8" D rim.
