STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN HISTORICAL / VIEW TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF TWO, comprising a "CITY HALL / NEW YORK" example featuring a family admiring and pointing at the structure, and a State Series example depicting Bishton Hall, Staffordshire with two fishermen in foreground, flanked by patriotic female figures Justice and Liberty on platforms reading "AMERICA AND / INDEPENDENCE", portrait image of George Washington beside Justice, border featuring 15 states enumerated in swags interspersed with stars. Marks to underside include printed pattern name and "BEAUTIES OF AMERICA / J&W RIDGWAY" and impressed crown with "CLEWS WARRANTED STAFFORDSHIRE" to underside. John & William Ridgway, Hanley; Ralph & James Clews, Cobridge, England. 1813-1834. 10 1/2" DOA.

Condition
