STAFFORDSHIRE PEARLWARE TRANSFER-PRINTED EUROPEAN VIEWS CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF EIGHT, each having dark blue transfer patterns, comprising six examples with grapevine border including a cup plate featuring Armitage Park, Staffordshire, three examples from the London Views series including "St PHILIPS CHAPEL / REGENT STREET" having embossed scroll border, and two featuring "DORIC VILLA. / REGENT'S PARK", and two French Views including "VUE D'UNE ANCIENNE / ABBAYE" and "EAST VIEW OF LA GRANGE / THE RESIDENCE OF THE / MARQUIS LA FAYETTE", one featuring Farmhouse in the Woods depicting two figures, one on horseback, and one soup plate with "WRITTLE LODGE / ESSEX". Marks to underside include impressed "ENOCH WOOD & SONS / BURSLEM", and impressed eagle and shield mark encircled with "E. WOOD & SONS BURSLEM / SEMI CHINA / WARRANTED". Enoch Wood & Sons, Burslem; Andrew Stevenson, Cobridge, England. Circa 1825. 4 5/8" to 10 3/8" D.

Condition

Four undamaged, except some having usage wear including light short scattered scratches; Farmhouse in the Woods having moderate wear to well with faint radial glaze hairline to back that does not go through to front; La Grange example having minor flake to rim edge; cup plate with minute rim flake; one Doric Villa example having rim with hairline and chip to underside.
