STAMPED "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG", PENNSYLVANIA DECORATED STONEWARE BATTER JUG, salt-glazed, "II" gallon capacity mark, ovoid form with open-loop handle supports, protruding vertical spout, applied arched handle at reverse base, and Albany-slip glazed interior. Bold brushed cobalt flower enveloping spout and reverse featuring a horizontal spitting tulip decoration, and additional cobalt around supports, arched handle, and across stamp. Original wire and wooden bail handle. Cowden and Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA. 1863-1881. 9 5/8" HOA, 5 7/8" D rim.

Excellent, undamaged condition. Manufacturing flaws including some glaze imperfections such as minor scattered bubbles and stone pops, as made.
