STAMPED "L.D. FUNKHOUSER & CO. / STRASBURG / VA", SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE PITCHER, salt-glazed, "1 1/2" gallon capacity mark, ovoid body with pronounced shoulder bead and tall neck with rounded rim, applied strap handle, and beaded foot. Brushed cobalt dropped flower and feather repeated three times from shoulder, neck with two additional feathers flanking spout and six dashes below rim, additional cobalt at handle terminals. Strongly stamped with classic "rising sun" mark. The pottery of Luther David Funkhouser (1841-1919), Strasburg, VA. 1866-1890. 11 3/4" HOA, 5 5/8" D rim.
