STAMPED "P. HERRMANN", BALTIMORE, MARYLAND DECORATED STONEWARE JARS, LOT OF TWO, salt-glazed, each of cylindrical form with squared rim, comprising a "1 1/2" gallon capacity mark example and a "2" gallon capacity mark example. Each having bold brushed cobalt decoration including one featuring dropped feather repeated four times off neck and remaining with vertical double-bloom floral decoration on each side. The pottery of Peter Herrmann (1825-1901), Baltimore, MD. Circa 1875. 11" H, 7" D rim and 12 3/8" H, 7 1/2" D rim.
"2" gallon example mostly undamaged except having two minor shallow chips to rim interior; "1 1/2" gallon having a chip and some scattered hairlines including one to rim and some to base. Manufacturing flaws including each having stone pops, as made.
