STAMPED "S. BELL & SON / STRASBURG", SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA STONEWARE JARS, LOT OF TWO, each approximately one-gallon capacity, comprising one cylindrical-form example with flat-top rim, having brushed cobalt dropped feather decoration repeated two times off the collar, and one wide mouth ovoid-form example with squared rim. The pottery of Samuel Leonard Bell (1811-1891) and/or his sons Richard Franklin, Turner Ashby, and Charles Forrest Bell, Strasburg, VA. 1882-1905. 7 7/8" and 9 1/2" H.

Condition

Decorated example undamaged; wide mouth example having some mostly minor rim flakes.
