TIDEWATER VIRGINIA CHIPPENDALE CHERRY CHEST OF DRAWERS WITH BEVERLY FAMILY ASSOCIATION, rectangular top with applied edge molding above four graduated thumb-molded drawers, flanked by solid ends, the whole raised on an applied cut-out bracket-foot base. Yellow pine and poplar secondary wood. Retains an old surface with warm color. Late 18th/early 19th century. 34 1/2" H, 37 1/2" W, 20" D.

Catalogue Note: The present lot includes a notarized letter, dated August 16, 1983, which indicates, in part, that the currently offered chest of drawers "originally came from 'Blandfield', home of the Beverly family, in Essex County, Virginia, and from where it was obtained."

Condition

Good overall visual condition. Proper right rear foot restored with minor repairs to case. Scattered pieced repairs to drawer facings. Period brasses (probably replaced) in original drillings.
