U.S.A. HOSPITAL DEPARTMENT CIVIL WAR MEDICINE BOTTLE, yellow-olive with slight amber tone at the shoulders and base, quart size, blown in a three-piece mold and embossed "U.S.A. / HOSP. DEPT" at midsection, applied round blob mouth with lower collar, smooth base. 1862-1865. 9 3/8" H.
Catalogue Note: A note on the bottle's base suggests it was found "along Union lines" in Petersburg, however, it does not appear to be a dug bottle.

Collection of the late Al and Billy Steidel, Alexandria, VA.
Purchased from Charlie Forrest in 2005.
Ex-collection of David A. Lyon.
