U.S. MODEL 1860 STAFF AND FIELD OFFICER'S SWORD, double-edge etched blade with central "U.S." on one side and spread-wing eagle to other, ricasso marked "H.V. ALLIEN & Co. / NEW YORK", shagreen/sharkskin grip lacking wire wrapping, brass pommel with eagle on one side, and double guard, one of which folds, with spread-wing eagle to one and crossed arms and shield to the other, original steel and brass scabbard. Fourth quarter 19th/early 20th century. 37 1/2" LOA, 29 3/4" blade.
Good condition with some light verdigris to brass, several spots of rust to blade, heaviest at top of ricasso, scabbard lightly cleaned.
