William Bargelt enlisted on September 1, 1861, and was detailed as a musician; he was discharged due to age on August 8, 1862. Later that year, he re-enlisted in Co. B, 7th Virginia Cavalry Band. He is buried in the Massanutten Cemetery in Woodstock.
