VERY FINE PIEDMONT NORTH CAROLINA FIGURED TIGER MAPLE CHEST ON FRAME, the two-board top above four scratch-beaded drawers, flanked by paneled ends, all raised on a frame base with shaped apron featuring center drop and paneled cabriole legs ending in stylized trifid feet. Yellow pine secondary wood. Retains possibly original turned wooden knobs and a fine early surface with rich color. Circa 1820. 50 1/2" H, 43" x 20" top.
Catalogue Note: North Carolina cherts of this form are extremely rare in tiger maple.
