VIRGINIA ATTRIBUTED SLAVE MANUSCRIPT SALES RECEIPTS, LOT OF TWO, each purchased by James Robinson; one dated January 2, 1844, for a negro girl Louisa from the James McBride estate; second dated December 15, 1847, $701.00 for a negro boy named Solomon, "fifteen years old (as far as known to me) sound and healthy and a slave for life", from the estate of Thomas Lewis, John Bowman administrator. No place names listed. 4 5/8" x 7 3/4" and 3 3/8" x 7 3/4".

 

Condition

Very good condition with light crease folds, one with toning and paper reinforcement strips to verso.
