VIRGINIA CHIPPENDALE WALNUT BLANKET CHEST, the rectangular one-board hinged lid with applied edge moldings that are pinned and through-mortised at ends, over a dovetailed case, interior with lidded till having secret drawer, above two short drawers with scratch-beaded profile, the whole raised on an applied ogee bracket-foot base with spurred profile. Yellow pine and walnut secondary wood. Retains original wrought-iron strap hinges and grab lock, old surface with warm color. Fourth quarter 18th century. 32" H, 50" W, 23 1/2" D.

Very good overall condition with minor scattered wear. Old repair to proper right end lid molding. Brasses replaced. Very minor wear and old repairs to feet.
