Ritchie, 1862, bound with Acts of the General Assembly for 1863 and The New Constitution of Virginia, with the Amended Bill of Rights, as Adopted by the Reform Convention of 1850-51, and Amended by the Convention of 1860-61; (2) George W. Munford, Third Edition of the Code of Virginia: including Legislation to January 1, 1874, Richmond: James E. Goode, 1873; (3) William J. Nicolls, The Railway Builder. A Handbook for Estimating the Probable Cost of American Railway Construction and Equipment, Philadelphia: Henry Carey Baird & Co., 1878, front endpaper signed "W W La Prada + Bros, Richmond, Virginia"; (4) Charles Sumner, White Slavery in the Barbary States, Boston: John P. Jewett, 1853, inside cover signed "Averill Charlestown / March 27, 1859"; and (5) William Guthrie, A New Geographical Historical and Commercial Grammar and Present State of the Several Kingdoms of the World, eighth edition, London: Printed for Charles Dilly, 1783. Hardcovers, Nicolls and Sumner with gilt-stamped titles on front covers, Munford with gilt-stamped title and year on spine, and Guthrie with handwritten dust jacket signed "Wm. H. Massie" and dated October 31, 1877.


Overall fair condition. (1) Acts of the General Assembly with heavy wear to boards, cover missing from spine and front board detached, missing back endpaper, and extensive toning to interior text. (2) Munford with extensive cracking to spine and yellowing to page edges. (3) Nicolls with extremely loose front cover, losses to spine, wear to covers, and torn front endpaper. (4) Sumner with extensive staining to cover and some toning to interior pages. (5) Guthrie with very heavy wear, very loose binding, missing some pages and at least one foldout map, staining and tears to some pages.
