VIRGINIA MERCHANT'S STENCILED STONEWARE CROCK, salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, wide-mouth form with flat-top slightly rounded rim, Albany-slip glazed interior. Stenciled cobalt "LIPSCOMB & / SOMERVILLE, / STAUNTON, Va." Circa 1880. 8" H, 8 1/4" D rim.
Provenance: Property from the estate of Clarence and Coralena Smith, Romney, WV.
Mostly undamaged, having flake to rim interior and two spots of light staining.
