VIRGINIA PAINTED YELLOW PINE BLANKET CHEST, one-board rectangular lid over a dovetailed case, the whole raised on an applied cut-out bracket-foot base, underside of lid inscribed "jos. Holdsworth / pd". Retains original wrought-iron strap hinges and black-painted surface. Fourth quarter 18th century. 21 1/2" H, 44" W, 20 1/2" D.

Very good overall condition with minor scattered wear. Minor cracks to foot facings. Lacking applied lid moldings to ends (two pieces detached but present).
