Comprising 18 daguerreotypes, mostly sixth and ninth plate, including three of Dr. Whitney, two of his first wife Harriet North Vail, seven of his children, one a double portrait, and one of his second wife, Letitia Jane Franklin as a young girl; five ambrotypes including one of Dr. Whitney and three of his children, one in a Union uniform; the remainder being mostly tintypes or CDVs including four of Dr. Whitney and several of his children. Most with complete cases. 2" x 1 3/4" to 3 1/4" x 3 3/4" OA. 1840s to around 1900.

Most in very good to excellent condition, soldier with losses to emulsion, a few with spotting or staining.
