WHITNEY FAMILY, LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK PHOTOGRAPHS, LOT OF 36, most of Dr. Darling Brush Whitney (1810-1898), Huntington and East Norwich, and his family. Comprising 18 daguerreotypes, mostly sixth and ninth plate, including three of Dr. Whitney, two of his first wife Harriet North Vail, seven of his children, one a double portrait, and one of his second wife, Letitia Jane Franklin as a young girl; five ambrotypes including one of Dr. Whitney and three of his children, one in a Union uniform; the remainder being mostly tintypes or CDVs including four of Dr. Whitney and several of his children. Most with complete cases. 2" x 1 3/4" to 3 1/4" x 3 3/4" OA. 1840s to around 1900.
Most in very good to excellent condition, soldier with losses to emulsion, a few with spotting or staining.
