1892 HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA REED & BARTON SILVER-PLATED BICYCLE RACE TROPHY, the urn engraved "The Lochiel Prize / 1st Prize / 1/2 Mile Safety / September 5th / 1892", marked for Reed & Barton under the base. Converted into a lamp. A fabric shade is available. 1892. 33" H to top of finial, 16 1/2" H to top of the urn.
Catalogue Note: The Harrisburg Wheel Club conducted the Labor Day Bicycle Meet at Island Park. The event began with a grand bicycle parade at 10 a.m., followed by 12 half- and one-mile races and a 15-mile road race. Valuable prizes were awarded to each winner, including this trophy which was valued at $50 and was sponsored by the Lochiel Hotel.

Condition

Very good condition, pedal to backside is missing, several spokes are loose and one or two are probably missing.
