ABRAHAM BYRD FAMILY, ROCKINGHAM CO., SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA, ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO, comprising Civil War era Paris made field glasses stamped "L AIGLON / PARIS", purportedly used by Abraham Byrd during the Civil War, and a sheet-metal "A. BYRD" stencil. Circa 1860. 7 1/4" H.
Provenance: From the John H. and Joan S. Byrd estate collection, Harrisonburg, VA.
Descended in the Byrd family.
Catalogue Note: Captain Abraham Byrd served with the 10th Virginia Infantry Company S, working as assistant quartermaster. He was 37 at the outset of the war.

Condition

Very good overall condition, stencil with moderate areas of rust, field glasses with areas of moderate usage wear.
