ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA ENGRAVED-DECORATED COIN SILVER SUGAR TONGS, tapered handles having bright-cut engraved decoration, ovoid grips with engraved foliate motifs to exterior. Impressed with "I [pellet] ADAM." maker's mark for John Adam of Alexandria, VA (active c. 1796-1798; 1801-1848), who also worked in Georgetown, DC (active 1801). Total weight: 1.550 ozt. Early 19th century. 6 1/4" LOA.
