SALEM, VIRGINIA COIN SILVER SUGAR TONGS, finless fiddle handle with bright-cut engraved decoration, having figural acorn grips, end of handles with engraved "LR" initials. Impressed twice with "J. WITHERS." in a serrated rectangular cartouche for John Withers II of Salem, VA (1788-1869; active c. 1815-1869). Total weight: 1.125 ozt. First half 19th century. 6" LOA.

Condition

Very good overall condition with some wear, surface scratches, and nicks, slight bending to handles, one acorn grip with a split having soldered repair.
