AMERICAN FLINTLOCK KENTUCKY-STYLE LONG RIFLE, approximately .40 caliber, cherry/maple fullstock with carved cheekrest, butt with "CS.H 1794" carved inscription, octagonal rifled barrel, double set trigger, lockplate marked "GODDARD / WARRANTED" with engraved decoration including bird, period ramrod. Possibly by a Shenandoah Valley gunsmith. First quarter 19th century. 51" LOA, 36 1/2" L barrel.
Very good overall condition with expected usage wear, some scattered age cracks, hammer a little loose, minor losses to forestock at barrel.
