AMERICAN FREE-BLOWN PAIR OF THISTLE-FORM VASES, opaque white and deep cobalt blue, each flaring bowl with applied rim, double-ring to lower bowl, and thick compressed globular base with ringed shoulder, raised on a double-knop stem and circular foot with rough pontil mark. Probably New England or Pittsburgh area. Mid 19th century. 10 1/2" H, 5 7/8" DOA rims, 4" D feet.
Catalogue Note: An extremely rare and visually arresting pair of vases in top condition and with outstanding provenance.
