AMERICAN "LOG CABIN" PIECED QUILT, hand- and machine-stitched, 24 pattern blocks in various print and solid fabrics in a diamond arrangement, double border to top and bottom edges, side edges with five striped border, all-over Baptist fan quilting, front-over-back binding, two paneled purple pink fabric backing. Together with a crib/youth tied comfort, having 45 blocks of four bars in mostly wool fabric with green fabric ties to centers, applied green binding, multi-paneled print fabric backing. Two pieces total. Quilt first quarter 20th century, some fabrics possibly earlier; comfort second quarter/mid 20th century. Quilt 66 1/2" x 83"; comfort 37" x 67".

Condition

Quilt in good overall condition, top with light to moderate fading on some fabrics, some light toning, scattered stains and spotting, a few scattered holes, area of pen markings at center of one side, binding with some wear, backing with light toning, some fading along fold lines and edges, scattered stains and spotting including a blue ink stain; tied comfort in good to very good overall condition, top with some holes on wool fabric, a few stains, backing with a few stains.
