AMERICAN OR EUROPEAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) PORTRAIT OF A GENTLEMAN, oil on canvas, waist-length depiction of figure in oblique pose, face turned slightly to the right, he wearing a jeweled clover leaf pin on white cravat while holding a book in his right hand, no signature located. Housed in a period molded giltwood frame. Early 19th century. 29 3/4" x 24 1/2" sight, 36 1/2" x 31 1/2" OA.

Very good overall visual condition, lined with scattered minor inpainting to figure and background. Frame with moderate wear.
