with officer's stripes, and with later buttons. Probably Grand Army of the Republic.
Fourth quarter 19th/early 20th century.

Provenance: From a Richmond, VA estate.
Good as-found condition, officer's stripes have been altered, buttons not of the period, fraying to end of the coat, old repair to the back, scattered areas of discoloration, and with fading.
