AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) HOLLOW-CUT SILHOUETTES, LOT OF FIVE, laid on a black fabric backing, comprising a full length family featuring a period ink inscription, "Auguste and Rosalie, Honoria and Madame Hueging [?]"; a lady identified as "Ms. Sarah Elliot / 1836"; a man identified as "John Philips / 1837 / Sadsbury, C. C,"; a full figure of a man; and a more contemporary example reverse painted on glass. Each housed under glass in an old ebonized molded-wood frame or gilded frame, two of which are matching. Second quarter 19th and 20th century. Largest 7 3/4" HOA, 10 1/2" LOA.
Fair to good condition overall with the portrait of the family having moderate to heavy water damage; minor breaks and wear to frames.
