AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) YOSEMITE LANDSCAPE, oil on artist's board, after a print published by L. Prang & Co. of Boston, MA titled "El Capitan, no. 2", depicting a view of El Capitan in Yosemite Valley from the Merced River, featuring two figures in the foreground and tall pine trees lining the rocky river banks, possibly signed on the back, "M[...?] Sanhorn [or Sanborn?] / [Filk?] / 1 1/2". Housed in a period molded frame. Fourth quarter 19th century. 8" x 12" object, 11 5/8" x 15" OA.
Excellent visual condition with some light discoloration, one side edge of board unevenly cut, as made. Frame with later gold finish, scattered flakes and chips to molding, backing board cracked in half.
