AMERICAN SCHOOL (LATE 19TH CENTURY) LANDSCAPE PAINTING WITH COWS, oil on canvas, depicting a grassy landscape with brown and white cows, a few trees, light blue mountains in the distance, all under a partly cloudy sky, no signature located. Housed in a period gilt-molded frame, stretcher with cast-iron keys having 1883 and 1885 patent dates and "A.D.S." initials for Aaron Draper Shattuck (1832-1928) of Connecticut. Late 19th century. 15 1/4" x 7 1/4" sight, 19 1/2" x 11 3/8" OA.
Condition
Good to very good overall condition with areas of craquelure, light discoloration. Frame with some scattered losses and repair, re-gilded.
