ANDREW COFFMAN ATTRIBUTED, ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, incised "1 1/2" capacity mark, ovoid form with plain rim, a beaded ring below the high-collared cylindrical neck, and arched shallow grooved handles.
Probably at Zigler Pottery, Timberville, VA. Circa 1840. 11 5/8" H, 6 5/8" D rim.

Excellent condition, having a minor rim chip and an elongated flake to one handle. Manufacturing flaws including a firing separation to rim and interior, as made.
