ANTIQUE FOLMER & SCHWING CENTURY VIEW NO. 8 LARGE FORMAT 11X14 STUDIO / PROCESS CAMERA, extremely large mahogany body/hardware and brass rails/components with wooden adjustment knobs, dual black leather/fabric bellows, nameplates reading "CENTURY / No. 8" and with serial number 70738 stamped to part of track; retaining several stacking backs/adapters for film sizes including 11" X 14", 8" X 10", and 5" X 7", several components with manufacturer's stamp for Folmer & Schwing Division of Eastman Kodak and/or "Sliding Carriage #8", the smallest film back has a ground glass focusing panel and an ANSCO cut film holder stamped and inscribed in several locations "FOSTER STUDIO" for the famous Foster Photographic Studio of Richmond, Virginia, started in 1890. First quarter 20th century. 33" L track, 25" HOA.

Condition

Fair condition with overall wear and major or minor losses to several components, and bellows have numerous small holes; lacking a lens, shutter, or any part of the original stand or rolling tripod.

Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA to benefit collections care, preservation, and future acquisitions.
