ANTIQUE / VINTAGE ASSORTED STERLING SILVER AND MOTHER-OF-PEARL CASES, LOT OF FOUR, sterling pieces comprising a card case by Gorham Mfg. Co. of Providence, RI with Aesthetic engraved decoration and "VBF" initials, a cigarette case by Wm. B. Keer & Co. of Newark, NJ with large engraved "TA" initials to top, and a rectangular folding case by Unger Bros. of Newark, NJ with engraved "T.A." initials to top, a note recorded by consignor read, "this small silver case was used by Thomas Atkinson, Jr. (1887-1974 of 'Manfield Farm' in Middleburg, VA) to hold the cigarette papers used to roll his own cigarettes"; also including a mother-of-pearl card case with one side featuring an etched design of a tree with birds. Sterling cases with fineness and maker's marks. Total weight of sterling cases: 6.940 ozt. 19th/first quarter 20th century. Cigarette case 4 1/4" x 3 1/8" OA.
Provenance: Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA to benefit collections care, preservation, and future acquisitions.

Condition

Fair to very good overall condition with wear and surface scratches; sterling cases with other imperfections including dents, bending, and/or nicks; mother-of-pearl piece with a loss to a small piece of the interior flange.
