ANTIQUE / VINTAGE FRENCH AND OTHER VIOLINS, LOT OF TWO, comprising a French violin from the workshop of Marc Laberte of Mirecourt, stamped "2211" on the nose, having interior labels including one stating this was modeled after "Nicolaus Amatus Cremone & Hieronymi filii fecit An 1651", including an unmarked bow and a hardshell case; and one violin without label, including a marked Robert Hoyer bow, and a hardshell case with paint decoration to top of a coat of arms and remnants of an applied sticker that partially reads"...CHERS COLLEGE / CHESTER". 19th/first half 20th century. Laberte violin 23 1/4" LOA; other violin 23 1/2" LOA.


Laberte violin in very good overall condition with some wear mostly being minor, repairs to front base edges of pegbox and base of neck corresponding with fingerboard, possibly other minor repairs, probably refinished, bow with some wear, frog partially detached, and bow hair with breaks, case with wear and other imperfections; other violin in as-found condition with several cracks and some repairs, Robert Hoyer bow in very good overall condition with some wear, oxidation to metal components, and lacking bow hair, case with wear, surface scratches, and other imperfections, losses to paint decoration, and interior with odor.
