ASSORTED CREPE-PAPER / COMPOSITION SOUVENIR NATIVE AMERICAN CHARACTER DOLLS, LOT OF TWO, each with crepe paper/composition sculpted faces, black bead eyes and painted facial decoration, felt blankets and appropriate attire, comprising a Mary Frances Woods example of a woman and baby, wood and stuffed cloth body with a paper tag marked "Sacagawea / Bird Woman / A Shoshone Indian woman who acted as guide for the Lewis and Clark party in 1805", also retains a paper label with similar information and copyrighted "M. F. Woods"; and remaining example of a chief, cloth body, leather moccasins with beads, with paper tag marked "Blue Cloud / An Indian chief from Olympic Mts., Washington.", displayed on a wooden stand marked "Olympic Indian Trading Post". Second quarter 20th century. 9 3/4" and 10" H.
Good overall condition with expected wear and some scattered minor imperfections.
Deaccessioned by the Wachovia Historical Society to benefit acquisitions and conservation funds.
