ASSORTED GERMAN PARIAN BISQUE HEAD DOLLS, LOT OF FIVE, shoulder heads, hand-painted facial features including blue eyes, stuffed bodies with china arms and four with china lower legs and brown/black painted shoes, painted blonde molded hair in elaborate styles two examples with pierced ears and earrings including one example with parted and wavy hair attributed to Conta & Bohme Porcelain Factory, and remaining example with an Empress Augusta hair style and attributed to Alt, Beck & Gottschalck; includes four lady examples and a boy, boy with a kid-leather body and reverse of shoulder plate impressed "GERMANY"; black dressed example with molded upper blouse and with a bow, each leg with impressed herringbone pattern, attributed to Dornheim, Koch & Fischer, Empress Eugenie hairstyle with hair net. Each with vintage clothing and undergarments. Second half 19th/early 20th century. 10" to 13 3/4" H.

Condition

Very good overall condition with expected wear, one example lacking original foot and with a poorly simulated replacement, blue velvet dressed example with earrings having a glued arm and a foot tip flake, boy with roughness to hands, some scattered repairs. Clothing and accessories in good overall condition with expected imperfections including some with deterioration and losses.

Deaccessioned by the Wachovia Historical Society to benefit acquisitions and conservation funds.
