BALTIMORE, MARYLAND DECORATED STONEWARE CAKE CROCK, salt-glazed, "1 1/2" gallon capacity mark, truncated cylindrical form with squared rim and two arched handles. Typical brushed cobalt pair of double-bloom flowers to each side, additional cobalt at handle terminals. The pottery of Peter Herrmann (1825-1901), Baltimore, MD. Circa 1875. 5 5/8" H, 11 5/8" D rim.

Condition

One side with hairline from rim to base adjacent to an interior-only firing crack, neither affecting the resonance, numerous small chips to interior and exterior of rim.
