BALTIMORE, MARYLAND DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, "2" gallon capacity mark, semi-ovoid form with squared rim, beaded neck ring, incised shoulder ring, and arched handles. Bold brushed cobalt double stem triple bloom flower to one side and a single stem double bloom flower to reverse, additional cobalt to handle terminals with a line below. Attributed to the pottery of Peter Herrmann (1825-1901). Circa 1875. 12" H, 7 1/8" D rim.
Having a radial hairline crack to underside, extending from base up one side approximately 6" L. Manufacturing flaws including glazed over chip to handle and base, as made.
