BRITISH EMPIRE MILITARY PINE TRUNK, the rectangular lid with strap hinges and applied moldings above a dovetailed case with an open interior and original iron bail handle to each end, raised on a wide applied base molding. Retains its original paint and lettering to the front for P. T. Smith of the 3rd King's Own Light Dragoons. First half 19th century. 19 1/2" H, 40" x 20 1/4".
Catalogue Note: This regiment of Dragoons existed under this particular name from 1818 until 1861. They first saw service in Ireland, before being dispatched to India in 1837. The regiment saw action in the First Anglo-Afghan War, as well as the First and Second Anglo-Sikh Wars.

Condition
Good overall condition, lid with age cracks, narrow loss to the lower edge of the proper-right base molding, expected wear to the paint.
