MID-ATLANTIC FOLK ART SCRIMSHAW DECORATED POWDER HORN, half of the horn incised with over 20 figures including a large horse, fish, birds, snake, trees, feathers, and a number of unidentified images, medial sawtooth ring steps down to an undecorated end and mouth, base with the original inset wooden cap. Retains traces of an old, blue-painted surface and worn red paint on the cap. Found on the West Virginia/Pennsylvania border. Late 18th/early 19th century. 10 3/4" L.
Good as-found condition with no holes or breaks, sliver loss to the side of the mouth, expected wear.
