CHINESE EXPORT GILDED LACQUER SEWING / WRITING BOX, elongated octagonal form featuring elaborate Chinoiserie decoration, end bail handles, and hinged lid concealing a fitted with a lift-out tray featuring 15 compartments including bone holders and two with lids, above a drawer fitted with a slanted hinged support flanked by side compartments. Contains needle working tools including thread holders, shuttles, thimble, etc. Fitted with a key. Second half 19th century. 5 1/2" H, 14 1/2" x 10 1/2".

Very good overall condition, some small losses to exterior lacquer, interior lid with some cracking to lacquer, losses to some compartments.
