CHRISTIAN STRENGE (LANCASTER CO., PENNSYLVANIA, ACT. 1787-1820) FOLK ART FRAKTUR VORSCHRIFT WRITING EXERCISE / FAMILY RECORD, watercolor and ink on paper, front featuring stylized floral devices above "Ich Johannes Schwahr" in fanciful lettering, below with lines of birth records segmented by calligraphic motifs, verso with stylized flowers with a bird in the upper right corner, all above a few lines of inscription divided by calligraphic motifs, later pencil inscription of "Made by / John Christian Strenge" along bottom edge, both sides with a yellow border having red corner blocks. Unframed. Late 18th/early 19th century. 10" x 15 3/8". 

Fair to good as-found condition with overall toning and discoloration, bleeding of colors, center horizontal fold line with a few tears, a 1" diagonal tear in one upper corner going through the bird's head, a 1 1/4" tear along bottom edge, other small tears and a few small losses to edges.
