CIVIL WAR US SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1863 PERCUSSION RIFLE MUSKET, Type I, 58 caliber, walnut full-stock with three barrel bands, iron buttplate marked "US", barrel marked "1863", and "VP / Eagle head" proof, lock marked "1863" to rear of hammer and Eagle flanking "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" forward of hammer, additional Eagle on nipple bolster. Appropriate tulip-head steel ramrod and socket bayonet marked "US". Circa 1863. 56" LOA, 40" barrel.
