CIVIL WAR COLT MODEL 1861 PERCUSSION MUSKET-RIFLE, 58 caliber, walnut full-stock with three bands, "U.S." marked buttplate, barrel marked "1863", "VP / Eagle head" proof, "M" and "STEEL"; lockplate marked "1863" to rear of hammer and "U.S. / COLT'S PT F. A. MFG CO./ HARTFORD CT." forward of hammer, American eagle on bolster, government inspector stamps on multiple parts. Stock with two boxed cartouches behind lock bolts and "JHG" forward of buttplate tang. Appropriate tulip-head steel ramrod. 1863. 56" LOA, 40" barrel.
