DAVID-ANDERSEN NORWEGIAN 0.830 SILVER ARTICULATED FISH SNUFF BOX, figural fish form with engraved decoration, hinged head serves as lid having enameled eyes and a hinged mouth that conceals a hollow interior, base with an open interior and exterior featuring articulated scales having applied fins and tail, on a probably original short/chatelaine chain. Edge of base rim marked "830S" alongside the maker's mark for David-Andersen of Christiania/Oslo, Norway utilized from c. 1888-1925. Total weight: 1.280 ozt. Late 19th/first quarter 20th century. 2 5/8" x 1 1/4" x 7/8" OA without chain; 4 1/4" HOA with chain.
