ENGLISH FREE-BLOWN BLACK GLASS MALLET / SQUAT CYLINDRICAL UTILITY BOTTLE, very dark olive/black, relatively straight-sided mallet form with very slightly flared-out base, inwardly tapering long neck and applied bladed ring/collar below the straight mouth, kicked-up base with wide sand pontil scar. 1740-1750. 8" H, 4 3/4" D base.

Catalogue Note: Retains a sticker to underside suggesting it was dug, presumably from a privy vault, in a circa 1750 context, either in Philadelphia, OR by a man named Phil.

Condition

Very good condition, mostly undamaged with very minor nicking to lip; having been excavated and showing moderate to heavily patinated surface with heavy etching, scuffing and rainbow discoloration.
