FREDERIC HAHR (RICHMOND, VIRGINIA 1845-1915), WATERCOLOR OF A SWEDISH SOLDIER, watercolor on paper, depicts a Swedish soldier in uniform holding sword. Housed in a mid 20th century frame. Late 19th century. 10 1/4" HOA, 5 5/8" WOA.
Catalogue Note: Frederic Charles Reinhold Hahr was born of Swedish parents, his father was a captain in the Royal Swedish Navy. He studied both painting and music, eventually settling on music and having a very successful career as a composer. He and his wife, Sally Anne Floyd, lived in Petersburg when they were married, and eventually settled in Richmond.
Condition
Very good visual condition with minor toning and some marks evident to artwork. Not examined out of frame.
Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA to benefit collections care, preservation, and future acquisitions.
